HISTORY

Odenwälder Kunststoffwerk (OKW) was founded in 1948 by Dr. Herbert Schneider in the town of Buchen, Odenwald, Germany.

The first range of products consisted of tuning knobs made of pressed plastic for the radio and television industry. These were followed by technical parts for the household appliance and computer industries. Then, in 1972, we presented the Flat-Pack Case, the first standard enclosure made of plastic for the electronics industry. Since then, OKW has repeatedly set new creative standards for enclosures as well as for tuning knobs, true to the motto "To each his own housing". Then in 1984 we decided to market the standard enclosures and tuning knobs through the legally independent company Odenwälder Kunststoffwerke Gehäusesysteme GmbH. Since then, a particular strength has also been our in-house, customer-specific modifications services such as drilling, milling, printing, painting etc.

Our objective is to preserve and maintain OKW as a family-owned business, not only now but also in the future.

CORPORATE CULTURE

A hugely important factor in our corporate success is the development of our personnel. The working atmosphere is characterised by attributes like creative, active, open, honest, reliable and dynamic. We are a culture of makers, of creators with open minds.

For OKW, staff development is our most important investment. The main focus of the management team has always been in long-term employee retention, motivation and continuous training. The development of an excellent working physical and social environment is essential in achieving these goals.

OUR TURTLE EMBLEM

OKW Turtle Emblem

Many customers ask us why we use a turtle as our trademark.
The answer is simple: In the wild, turtles are highly successful creatures with housings that are perfectly adapted to their environment. In the same way our housings are developed to perfectly suit their intended environment.
